Insights from the Latest SPRINT Robotics Webinar: ARIX Technologies and Field AI

The latest SPRINT Robotics webinar brought together ARIX Technologies and Field AI for a webinar exploring how robotics and AI are reshaping inspection and maintenance in industrial environments.

 

ARIX Technologies Advances Robotic Corrosion Inspection

ARIX Technologies shared its journey from startup to securing large-scale corrosion under insulation inspection contracts. Petter Wehlin explained how the company’s Venus robotic crawler is helping asset owners move beyond “pilot purgatory” by proving that robotic inspection data can meet the same standards as traditional manual methods.

The presentation highlighted the importance of building trust in robotic inspection through clear validation criteria, lab testing, field trials, and commercial deployment. Once that trust is established, companies can unlock the additional benefits of robotics, including improved safety, lower costs, increased productivity, and better inspection coverage.

ARIX also showcased how its technology is evolving beyond pipe crawlers. The company is developing new robotic radiography capabilities and digital inspection platforms that combine multiple data sources into a single 3D view, creating a more complete and connected picture of asset health.

 

Field AI Explores Foundation Models for Industrial Robotics

Field AI introduced its vision for “foundation models for the physical world,” AI systems that allow robots to safely operate in complex, changing environments such as refineries, plants, and industrial sites.

Aryou Manousi explained that traditional robots often depend on pre-mapped spaces and fixed routines, making them difficult to scale in the real world. Field AI’s approach instead enables robots to understand their surroundings, adapt to changing conditions, and make decisions autonomously.

The company demonstrated how the same AI “brain” can be deployed across multiple robot types, including quadrupeds, wheeled vehicles, drones, and humanoids. These robots can perform tasks such as site patrols, gauge reading, thermal inspection, digital twin creation, and remote monitoring with minimal setup and supervision.

 

Building the Future of Autonomous Industrial Inspection

A key theme throughout the webinar was the future of large-scale robot deployment. Field AI envisions fleets of robots working together, sharing knowledge and coordinating their movements across industrial sites to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and support human workers.

Together, both presentations reinforced a common message: the future of inspection is not just about better robots, but about combining reliable data, intelligent software, and scalable automation to help industry operate more safely and effectively.
