SUMMARY:SPRINT Robotics & RIMA SEMINAR - FOCUS ON TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE
DESCRIPTION:Robotics for I&M can play a significant role in keeping the transport infrastructure operational \nTransport infrastructure is a critical ingredient in economic development. Transport infrastructure consists of different assets\, such as roads\, railways\, bridges and tunnels\, many of them heavily operated and with difficult access. Keeping the infrastructure safe and operational is key to society\, however\, I&M can be costly and dangerous. Some of the assets require special and expensive equipment such as under-bridge cranes\, rigging or divers\, not to mention that interference should be avoided as much as possible. \nRobotics for I&M can play a significant role in keeping the transport infrastructure operational. Robotics can contribute through increased collection of reliable data in remote\, inaccessible or hazardous environments in a manner that is safe\, efficient and cost-effective. \nPROGRAM\nHighways\nJack Cornes\, Hausbots and Tom Tideswell\, Kier Highways – “Using Robotics for Graffiti Removal” \nWaterways\nArjen de Jong\, Aquatic Drones – “Autonomous waterborne I&M” \nRailways\nAkhilesh Goveas\, SpectX – “Autonomous aerial radiography (NDT) of railway infrastructure”\nSigurd Mørkved Albrektsen\, SINTEF – “Piloting Project” \nData\nDr Ilona Schöting\, Analytics Pika – “Data based mission planning for humans and robots” \nRIMA Open Call Projects\nBéatrice Rivalier\, VLM Robotics – “3RC (RRRc)”\nGintautas Nedzveckas\, Thrust – “GreenBee”\nCarlos Martin\, VES Robotics Applications – “ACIDRONES” \nSPRINT Robotics and RIMA Network will co-host “Focus on Transport Infrastructure: Latest Developments in Robotics for I&M”\nDecember 15\, 2021\n14:00 – 16:00 CET \nThe seminar is free of charge\, registration is required.

As water scarcity is becoming increasingly apparent\, water-intensive industries are focusing closely on monitoring water use\, treatment\, and re-use across their operations. This has opened the door to the exploration of synergies between users (industries) and providers (utilities) of water to reduce inefficiencies in the water cycle. \nSustainable infrastructures play a crucial role in industrial processes\, drinking water production and treatment\, as well as the management of freshwater resources. They represent significant value in terms of their operational function and capital cost. \nRobotics for I&M can play a key role in safeguarding infrastructures. Through an increased collection of reliable data in remote\, inaccessible or hazardous environments in a manner that is safe\, efficient and cost-effective\, robotics can contribute to better water stewardship and a more sustainable future. \nContinuing the successful events of spring 2021\, SPRINT Robotics and RIMA Network will co-host “Focus on water: Advancing robotics for I&M in water-intensive industries”. The seminar is free of charge\, registration is required. \nRegister here
