Action Groups

Action Groups are the workhorse of the SPRINT Robotics organisation. They focus on a particular theme and execute projects and activities centred around that theme and are of interest to the end user members of that Action Group.

Each Action Group has SPRINT Participants (end users) and SPRINT Associate Participants (developer, service providers) as members, is led by the Action Group Coordinator (a SPRINT Participant) and supported by SPRINT Support staff.

Important characteristics of Action Group projects include sharing of information, collaboration, and participation by members that cover the spectrum of the project’s stakeholders. As such, they provide opportunities for SPRINT members to contribute to and influence the activities.

SPRINT Robotics has three Action Groups: Surveillance Robotics, Task-based Robotics, Renewables and Integration.

Surveillance Robotics

Action Group Surveillance Robotics

Program Manager: Tjibbe Bouma / Marianna Corinaldesi

Robots in this category spend all of their time on-site, regularly executing scheduled actions, such as surveillance, or executing actions in response to normal operational situations and changes (operational tasks, such as operating valves). The robotic activities will usually be semi-autonomous (or thought to evolve into a form of autonomy).

Engage, collaborate, and share your insights to enrich the collective knowledge and expertise within this action group.

Task-based Robotics

Action Group Task-based Robotics

Program Manager: Xavier Quintanilla

This refers to robots that generally are brought to, or stored on, the site for a certain incidental action, such as fabric maintenance, focussed inspection or emergency response. Usually (for now), these robots will be manually operated, with at most limited portions of the activity automated.

Engage, collaborate, and share your insights to enrich the collective knowledge and expertise within this action group.

Renewables and Integration

Action Group Renewables and Integration

Program Manager: Arjen den Hamer

This Action Group will focus on the energy transition (harvesting alternative energy sources), integration (fleet management, workflow management, data management et cetera), and Artificial Intelligence (or data analysis in general).

Engage, collaborate, and share your insights to enrich the collective knowledge and expertise within this action group.
